Out of the blue, Kay agreed to go housewares shopping with me last weekend. I wanted to look at pillows and we ended up trying out beds and looking at options in 4-5 different stores around Dübendorf. The man even suggested going to IKEA. He must love me. 🙂
We browsed the lighting sections at a few different stores and are trying to figure out what to do in the living/dining room when we came upon these really funky lamps:

I bet you think they just look like normal desk lamps, right? Well they are huge… see if you can get a sense of the scale from these pictures:
See that dude in the back? He sort of gives you a little idea of the scale. These things are huge floor lamp versions of their desktop counterparts.
At first I thought they were strange… and then I thought they were really cool. I want an oversized desk lamp in our office! And 169 is a pretty fair price for such a large lamp in Switzerland. Anything to avoid spending 400+ on a lamp!
Would you go for a crazy lamp in your home?
If I could get a better light in my office, I swear I wouldn’t even care what it looks like! I have one overhead light, and the electrical work to this room is super shoddy, so it goes on and off all the time and drives me friggin crazy. So I would love to have a giant lamp by my desk! (Currently have a hutch that prevents me from putting a lamp on the desk itself.)
Ohh that would drive me crazy! We have pretty crappy desk lighting at the moment that just puts glare on my screen without providing anything useful for drawing/sewing/etc… so I’m with you on wanting the light upgrade!

We’ll be buying them, we just haven’t moved in yet. Isn’t home furnishing shopping fun! More fun than wedding planning, I think.
Maybe home furnishing is more fun because there’s no stress about having it all come together on ONE day. Easy going! And we can live without our fancy lamps for awhile. 🙂
Love these! I think they’d be so practical, especially because I tend to have a super organized but still completely covered desk. It’d be nice to not have to dedicate desktop space to a lamp. Win!
Yeah, I used to have an art lamp that clamped onto the desk and I really liked it… but it’s for American plugs so it’s not realistic to bring it over here. Oh well!
